Petzl, lighting the way for 50 years

To explore the depths of the caves that call to him, Fernand Petzl decided at a young age to improve the equipment he used. It was in his family home in Grenoble that he imagined, invented, and designed caving equipment. A true pioneer, Fernand revolutionised techniques and developed numerous pieces of equipment that are now considered the standard. Among them are the nylon rope and the headlamp. Following this success, he founded the brand Petzl in 1970, which today offers a comprehensive range dedicated to safety, verticality, and lighting. You can find Petzl helmets, Petzl harnesses, Petzl crampons, all the Petzl climbing gear (carabiners, belay devices, quickdraws,...) and of course the Petzl headlamps, accompanied by their batteries and Petzl rechargeable batteries. This was actually one of his first inventions, as in 1972, Fernand and his sons Pierre and Paul created a headlamp that was “all on the head”. With the evolution of collections and technologies, the Grenoble brand is now able to offer a rechargeable battery for nearly all of its lamps: one battery for each headlamp. 

A Petzl battery for every headlamp

To simplify the lives of outdoor enthusiasts and reduce the consumption of single-use batteries, Petzl offers rechargeable batteries and cells compatible with its lamps. The rechargeable battery Accu Core is for example compatible with Petzl headlamps featuring the Hybrid Concept (Tikka, Actik, Actik Core, Tactikka, Tactikka +, Iko Core, and Iko). This battery, which guarantees high lighting performance even at low temperatures, charges directly via its built-in USB port. For the Nao®+ headlamp, the Accu Nao®+ rechargeable battery allows for increased autonomy and capacity. Finally, for the Swift® RL lamp, the rechargeable battery Accu Swift® RL provides a backup battery. A charging indicator allows you to identify the remaining time and battery charge level. All these batteries, equipped with certifications, help reduce weight and increase autonomy. They can also be used as secondary or backup batteries during long alpine climbs, ski touring, or particularly lengthy trail running outings.
