The story of the Craft brand began in 1973 when Anders Bengtsson, an athlete and inventor, sought to improve the gear he wore. Originally from Sweden, he often faced a common problem at the time: his sweat would soak the fibres of his underwear, which would then freeze due to the negative temperatures. Anders experimented with different materials and textiles during his outings, and took the habit of measuring the humidity levels once he returned home. When he discovered polyester, it was a revolution. This material does not become wet on the outside as the fibre only absorbs a minimal amount of moisture. He added a knitting technique to further wick away sweat and keep the skin cool for optimal performance. From that moment on, the company grew, offering increasingly comprehensive ranges and sponsoring top-level athletes. In addition to thermal underwear, the Swedish brand developed socks, outdoor jackets such as trail-running jackets, and more. Originally focused on skiing, Craft also began to offer collections for other sports. Thus, running textiles emerged, as did clothing and equipment for cycling.
