Marmot was founded by two students, Eric Reynolds and Dave Huntley, in 1974. After an expedition on an Alaskan glacier, the two friends decided to create a mountaineering community: the Marmot Club. To become a member of this association, you had to have participated in the ascent of a peak with one of the group members.
It was from this private club that the first Marmot jackets and equipment were born. Quickly, the two partners launched their own parkas and sleeping bags, selling them in various stores specializing in high-altitude expeditions.
In 1976, Marmot became the first outdoor company to use Gore-Tex® technology in its equipment. The brand aims to provide mountain lovers with high-performance and technical clothing for their adventures.
