Deuter: since 1898, a passion for quality products
The story of the Deuter brand began in 1898 when Hans Deuter established the "Mechanical Canvas and Linen Mill" in Bavaria, producing postal bags. Gradually, in the following years, the company diversified and began producing tents and backpacks. The customers were not yet outdoor enthusiasts, but the quality of the products gained many followers, particularly among the armed forces. In 1928, the first connection with the mountains appeared following the Pamir expedition by explorer Willi Rickmer, who used Deuter backpacks, tarps, and tents among other gear. A few years later, the brand's products proved their worth on the Eiger and on peaks over 8,000 m, including Nanga Parbat in 1953 by Hermann Buhl. The company officially became what we know today in 1957 with the creation of the public limited company "Deuter Industriewerke AG-Augsburg".

Always looking to diversify, Deuter entered a new market in 1990 and created its first bike backpack, the Bike 1. A few years later, the first sleeping bag from the brand was launched.
