Choosing the right protection category:
Category: The category of a lens depends on the amount of light (VLT, visible light transmission rate) that passes through it.
Category 0 has a transmission rate of 80 to 100% and is used for comfort
Category 1 has a transmission rate of 43 to 80% and is used for low light conditions
Category 2 has a transmission rate of 18 to 43% and is used for medium light conditions
Category 3 has a transmission rate of 8 to 18% and is used for bright light conditions
Category 4 has a transmission rate of 3 to 8% and is used for exceptional light conditions
Two elements of the goggles contribute to eye protection: the UV radiation protection index and the lens tint against glare. In the mountains, rays are less filtered by the atmosphere. Goggles are divided into 4 protection categories:
Category 1: for skiing under very low light or bad weather
Category 2: for skiing with low sunlight (alternating sun and cloudy spells, uncertain weather)
Category 3: for skiing mainly in sunny conditions (the most recommended)
Category 4: for riding with intense light, particularly in high mountains
