The N°8 Outdoor by Opinel is the knife for outdoor adventurers!
Versatile, it can be used for sailing, mountaineering, canyoning, paragliding, underground or in high mountains.
Its very resistant Sandvik stainless steel blade, 2.5 mm thick, features a 3.5 cm long serrated area that is highly effective for cutting natural or synthetic ropes without tearing, as well as a shackle key for 4 to 10 mm shackles.
Its polyamide and fiberglass handle ensures a high resistance to shocks, water, and extreme temperatures.
In case of an alert or if you encounter a bear, you will appreciate the 110 dB whistle integrated into the handle's butt, which works in all weather conditions and has a range of about 300 meters in open areas.
Finally, we appreciate its Virobloc locking mechanism which keeps the knife folded for safe travel or in a secure open position during use.
The knife for outdoor enthusiasts!

Technologies used:
Sandvik Stainless Steel: The modified Sandvik 12C27 stainless steel developed for Opinel is known for its sharpness and ease of maintenance. The stainless steel capable of undergoing the heat treatment that gives it its good hardness is called martensitic. It has a carbon content of at least 0.40%, which allows for a very satisfactory sharpness without being prone to corrosion.
Handle: The handle is injected with polyamide reinforced with fiberglass, ensuring high resistance to shocks, water, and extreme temperatures (-40°C to +80°C). A whistle is integrated into the butt of the handle, without a ball it works in all weather conditions, with a power of 110 dB, and has a range of about 300 meters in open areas.
Safety Ring: Invented in 1955 by Marcel Opinel, the Virobloc safety ring equips all folding knives from N°06 onwards. Cut from stainless steel, the Virobloc consists of two parts: a fixed part and a sliding part. In addition to locking the blade in the open position (safety during use), it is now possible to lock the blade in the closed position (safety during transport).
