SilvaTerra Expedition - Compass

The Silva Terra Expedition Compass is an optimal companion for all your outdoor adventures. It is part of Silva's Terra series, products made from recycled materials with a 90% carbon emission reduction. The lid, grip ring, and graduation ring of the Terra Expedition are made of REVO material.

If the terrain requires a mirror compass, the Expedition is your ideal choice. It offers easy handling, silicone rubber feet for precise map work, a detachable lanyard with a quick-release safety scale, luminous markings for night use, an integrated magnifier, map measurement scales in mm or inches, 1:25 000, 1:50 000, and GPS scales, as well as an integrated magnetic declination adjuster. The Expedition can also measure maps at a 1:40 000 scale and is equipped with a clinometer to measure the angle of inclination and a 45-degree assistance function on the mirror sighting function.

This compass is equipped with a mirror that allows you to see both the compass and the background. The ability to view the compass while aligning the reference point makes mirror compasses more precise for taking accurate bearings. A mirror compass is particularly effective in open terrain where it is necessary to determine a direction over long distances.

The slope card is very useful for detecting avalanche risks and assessing the difficulty of your route. By knowing the slope, you can also estimate any additional distance to travel due to the incline. Always be cautious in steep terrain. The risk of avalanche increases when the slope exceeds 30 degrees. The slope card will help you detect this risk.
